Chief Financial Officer
Kathleen joined the WBDC in 2017 as Chief Financial Officer. A Worcester native, she has over 25 years’ experience in the accounting profession. Kathleen is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Nichols College, along with a Master’s Degree in Taxation from Bryant University. She is a member of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Kathleen began her career in the late 1980s working at the State House in Boston as Secretary to the Chairman of the Human Services Committee (former State Representative Paul Kollios of Millbury). She developed her interest for the accounting profession in the early 1990s when she began working at Bollus Lynch (formerly Love, Bollus, Lynch & Rogers). Over the next few decades, Kathleen acquired her accounting experience in both the public and private sectors. She has over 18 years’ experience in public accounting, working for James Billman-Golemme, CPA of Westborough; and, most recently, as a Tax Manager for Bisceglia, Steiman & Fudeman, LLP of Worcester. She has extensive experience in tax preparation, consulting, budgets and projections, financial statement preparation and audits of non-profit entities. She has worked on business valuations, research assignments, technical memorandums and calculations of special tax credits, including Research & Development, Brownfields, Historic Tax credits and Alternative Fuel credits. She has also represented many clients before the IRS and state taxing authorities.
To compliment her experience in public accounting, Kathleen has also worked in the private sector. In the mid 1990s, she worked int he 401k department of Allmerica Financial Services, and assisted with a major conversion of the 401k software for the Company. During 2007-2010, she worked at a venture capital firm, Rosse Enterprises, Ltd. of Framingham. While working at Rosse, she gained valuable experience in start-up medical devices companies and handled all areas of accounting, from start-up to shut-down, including maintenance of books, tax preparation, financial statement analysis, stock issuance, budgets and tax projections and human resource issues.
At WBDC, Kathleen oversees all areas of the Finance Department of the Corporation, including its affiliated company, New Garden Park, Inc. She is also in charge of Human Resources and Payroll. She is responsible for creating and communicating the financial statements, budgets, and future forecast projections for WBDC and affiliated companies. She reports financial information to senior management, officers, board of directors, and committee members. In her role, Kathleen assists in the growth and financial strength of the company, and helps with strategies to achieve the company’s mission. As a city native, Kathleen is excited to be part of the organization’s goal to invest in projects to further develop the community.
